What makes us different from the churches on most every corner?
It is the fact that we have an unbroken lineage from Church to Church back to the time of Christ. We can physically trace this lineage. But even if we couldn’t, you can know that since Jesus promised His Church would still be in existence when He returns, that is how it will be. In the very words of Jesus: “…thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18)
The Church at Jerusalem which Jesus founded is no longer there, but just like the fire that spreads from torch to torch, the Holy Ghost continues to preside over His New Testament Churches today. Modern day New Testament Churches can “rattle the chain” all the way back to the first century!
Follow these links that take you on the journey through Biblical Church lineage; then lineage from New Testament Churches in Bible times across to the New World (North America) and the Philadelphia Association of New Testament Churches; and finally lineage from the Philadelphia Association across the West, beginning with the Oregon Trail, to the present time in Springfield, Oregon.
